Susan Evasdaughter

portrait

Susan Evasdaughter lives in Yorkshire with her daughter.

Her involvement in the feminist spirituality movement started with its genesis in London in the late 70s. Crete became a growing interest after a visit there in 1983 and her amazement at how the island's ancient sacred past was being misrepresented. When her first publications on the subject sold out, one of her readers suggested a publisher for a new, expanded version and another reader offered to illustrate it. Who was she to refuse the great power of the fates? The result was Crete Reclaimed which tells of how the island, which was the cradle of European civilisation, became the focus for the social, religious and ideological transition from matriarchy to patriarchy.
